Frequently Asked Questions
Below are a number of frequently asked questions. Simply click on any of the following to learn more.
What are the benefits of freeze drying dog food?
Nutrient retention, minimally processed, long shelf life, light weight, and palatability. Freeze drying preserves all the nutrients of raw ingredients by removing moisture without the need for nutrient-damaging high temperatures associated with processing traditional dog food. This means essential vitamins, minerals, and enzymes are retained—critical ingredients for your dog’s health and well-being.
Is this Spot On Freeze-Dried Raw Dog Food good for any sized dog?
Yes, the only consideration is how much to give each sized dog. Please see our 'Feeding Guidelines’ on this website and on the package for recommended serving sizes for dogs of all sizes.
Why do you recommend transitioning my dog to the beef diet over time?
Sudden changes in a dog's diet can lead to digestive upset, diarrhea, or vomiting. Introducing Spot On Freeze-Dried Raw Dog Food gradually over time, you'll give your dog time to adjust to the new nutrients and taste.
Do I need to rehydrate this freeze-dried food?
If you are using Spot On Freeze-Dried Raw Dog Food as a training treat or a meal “topper," rehydrating is not necessary. If you are filling the bowl with Spot On, we recommend you add warm, clean water to the food and let it absorb for a couple of minutes before serving.
How do I switch my dog from a dry, kibble dog food diet to Spot On Freeze-Dried Raw Dog Food?
Start by giving Spot On Freeze-Dried Raw Dog Food as a treat to your dog, one cube at a time. Then begin adding Spot On as a “topper" to your dog's existing diet. Then, over time, start mixing in more and more Spot On into the existing diet until after about a week or so when your dog is eating only Spot On!
What is the shelf life of Spot On Freeze-Dried Raw Dog Food?
Up to two years. If kept in a dry, cool environment, shelf life can be further extended. However, we doubt your dog will want to wait that long for your pet to enjoy the taste and nutritional value of Spot On Freeze-Dried Raw Dog Food.
